I first met Brandon upon my arrival in Tahoe to serve as the new Director of the Lake Tahoe Adult Education Consortium, now known as Advance. We are an education and workforce development program housed at Lake Tahoe Community College helping adults meet career and educational goals. Brandon was an active member of our Industry Work Group, tasked with helping our fledgling program better meet the needs of local hospitality and tourism properties, as we began designing services and supports. In every instance, he not only provided valuable insights and feedback but was an “all-in” supporter of our work. When we were finally able to deliver a 40-hour culinary boot camp, crafted with considerable input from Brandon, he was the first GM to not only send some of his employees as participants but paid them while they attended and increased their wages upon successful completion. His investment in his staff helped us implement this at other properties in Tahoe. In addition to his involvement in creating new programs, Brandon is also a willing partner in a number of other endeavors, whether it is providing space for conferences or helping us house a recently released client with a room during the cold, bitter weather of late November.
